The Orquidario of Estepona, which this year, 2025, completes its first decade, will host the 10th Orchid and Collector’s Plants Fair on 8 and 9 November. The event is a great opportunity to see the fantastic botanical collection housed in this municipal facility, as well as to learn about the art and culture of orchids.
The Botanical Park-Orquidario of Estepona has become established as one of the main tourist attractions of the city. This is backed by visitor figures, exceeding half a million tickets since it opened. With more than 3,000 plant species, of which nearly 1,500 are orchids, this centre has the largest collection in Spain and one of the most important in Europe. Today, it is one of the highlighted stops on the routes that visitors to the city plan during their stay, and one of the attractions most valued by residents.
This 10th Orchid and Collector’s Plants Fair will feature eight exhibitor-sellers from companies based in several Spanish cities and Portugal, who will offer a wide selection of orchids, both decorative and collectors’, such as Flora del Trópico (Madrid), with both commercial hybrid and species orchids; Pantrópica (Málaga), with orchids from Southeast Asia; Carniloco (Cádiz), with carnivorous plants, especially of the genus Nepenthes; Todoplantbulbosas (Seville), collectors’ African bulbs; Eternal Flowers (Lisbon), a craftswoman making costume jewellery using natural orchid flowers; Viveros El Jardín (Valencia), assorted collectors’ and garden plants; Uniqflor (Málaga), with orchids and aroids in general; and Kokedama (Málaga), with collectors’ cacti.
The fair will take place in the area around the Orquidario, near Calle Terraza, and will be open from 10:00 to 19:00 on Saturday, without a break; and from 10:00 to 14:00 on Sunday. Visits to these exhibitors are free and open to all.
The fair also includes practical workshops on growing and flowering orchids and on carnivorous plants. They will take place on Saturday, at 11:00 (basic orchid workshop, run by Pantrópica); and at 17:00 (on carnivorous plants, run by Carniloco). On Sunday, the workshop will be at 11:00 (this will be an advanced orchid workshop, run by Pantrópica).
To attend the workshops, you only need to show your ticket for the Orquidario, which costs 5 euros for adults (pensioners and people with disabilities, 3 euros) and 3 euros for children up to 12 years old (free for ages 0 to 6).
