109 protected homes are still waiting for a response from the Spanish Government
Six months ago, Estepona Town Council made six municipal plots available to the central Executive to build VPO in Casas del Padrón, Llanos de la Boladilla and Camino de Cortes.
The response? None.
The Government of Pedro Sánchez announced €23 billion to boost housing and 15,000 new homes a year, and Estepona did its part: it made municipal land available so that our town could also benefit.
Six months later, we still do not know whether the Government accepts the land or whether it plans to build the 109 homes. Meanwhile, Estepona Town Council, after years of work to obtain land that allows the stock of protected housing to be expanded, is setting up other mechanisms through which the town can be provided with more than 1,200 homes. In this regard, there are short-term initiatives and the first VPO for the Camino de Cortes area are already being put out to tender. It is also processing the licences for the construction, by the Vimpyca Foundation, of 117 homes on two plots in Camino de Cortes Sur.
