García Urbano commits to completing the 23 kilometres of coastal path and announces the creation of five river corridors
The Popular Party leader has highlighted that 90% of the coastline has already been connected through this sustainable project for the town, which has become one of the town’s great attractions.
The mayor of Estepona and candidate for re-election for the PP, José María García Urbano, has announced his commitment to finish the coastal path project during the next term of office. In this regard, he referred to the great effort made during this decade to carry out this project, which requires extensive and complex administrative processing and supra-municipal permits for its development.
Nevertheless, he expressed his satisfaction at already having 90% of the municipal area connected by these sustainable paths, which have revealed a new town and a new way of enjoying the attractions of the municipality. In this respect, García Urbano announced his commitment that in the coming years this project, which in Estepona covers a total of 23 kilometres of coast, will be fully completed, thus allowing an uninterrupted connection along the coastline throughout the municipality.
García Urbano valued the innovative nature of this project, which has guaranteed the preservation of the coastline for the future, enhancing its value and creating a new attraction for citizens.
As a complement to this initiative for the sustainable structuring of the town, the Popular Party leader announced the creation of river corridors on the rivers Guadalmina, El Padrón, Guadalmansa, el Castor and La Cala. In this way, the banks of these natural spaces will be enhanced; at the same time it will make it easier for them to be walked by citizens as leisure spaces.
In this regard, it is worth recalling that the PP municipal government has carried out during the current term the creation of a river corridor around the arroyo Las Cañas, in Selwo, which has meant the regeneration of the surroundings of this watercourse, with revegetation of the site, the creation of a green area and a path for citizens to walk.
