García Urbano presents the project to extend the great boulevard towards the centre of Estepona

The Popular Party leader has highlighted that this sustainable urban development action will put “the finishing touch to the great transformation and achieve another element of economic and social revitalisation in the town”.

It will be developed on the axis between the new Town Hall, the renovated seafront promenade and the revitalised town centre, including the external redevelopment, the creation of an underground car park and commercial and leisure areas.

The mayor of Estepona and candidate for re-election for the PP, José María García Urbano, has presented the project that will extend the great urban boulevard that has been created next to the sea, on avenida de España, to the centre of the town.

This project, included in the PP’s election manifesto for the next term, will put “the finishing touch to the great transformation the town has undergone” through the comprehensive remodelling of avenida San Lorenzo. This will achieve its integration with the renovated avenida de España and with the renovated town centre, the ‘Jardín de la Costa del Sol’, creating another great urban boulevard that merges with the recent opening to the sea that has been carried out, achieving one of the best seafront promenades in Spain.

This action, which takes place in the heart of the town, on the axis between the new Town Hall, the seafront promenade and the town centre, includes the creation of an underground car park with capacity for 300 vehicles; as well as the creation of a commercial and leisure area.

In this way, this space, of about 22,000 square metres, will become another urban benchmark of sustainability and of spaces for citizens. Thus, pedestrian and leisure use will be boosted in the development of the surface, maintaining the traffic routes for communication between surrounding streets and access to the existing parking areas.

García Urbano highlighted that “with this significant sustainable urban development initiative we advance in the urban planning model developed over these 12 years and in the friendly, environmentally respectful town with quality of life that Estepona has become”. “This model is already a benchmark and has been recognised by institutions and social agents for the benefits it brings for the future of societies”, he added.

He also stressed that this project continues to contribute to the “valuable revitalisation and reinvigoration of economic and social activity brought about by the great transformation that Estepona has undergone”. “There is no doubt that this city model has contributed to Estepona being at the forefront of job creation in Andalucía and to generating important synergies with the business community and the services sector”, he added.
