We continue working on various actions aimed at improving both areas of the old town and the different neighbourhoods.

Thus, the Town Council has just awarded two major remodelling projects in Plaza Cristóbal Colón and Plaza Manuel Requena ‘Melilla’.

In the case of Plaza Cristóbal Colón, the Town Council will replace the paving as well as the other existing urban elements and the street furniture. In addition, the need to replace the sewerage networks has been identified, renewing the existing connections. Some stormwater connections will also be made and drains will be added to collect rainwater from the streets.

This space will also be given new functional and ornamental elements, such as green areas, a fountain and a drinking fountain.

In Plaza Manuel Requena, meanwhile, new furniture, shaded areas, gardening and children’s play equipment will be installed, as well as a new lighting network.

In short, the aim is to completely transform an open square, practically unused, into a place for rest, gathering and play.
