Prevent today to protect Estepona tomorrow

In Estepona we continue to advance on infrastructure that often goes unseen but is essential for the safety of our town.

Construction is now under way on a new storm tank on Avenida San Lorenzo, at its junction with Calle Real, a project aimed at strengthening the capacity of the stormwater network and reducing the risk of flooding during torrential rain.

The infrastructure will have capacity to temporarily store 825 m³ of water, preventing overloads in the sewer network and complementing the current drainage system.

The project involves an investment of close to €950,000, financed from the local improvement levy, and is being carried out by Hidralia.

The project also includes pumping systems, new pipes and overflow channels, as well as a generator to guarantee the installation operates in the event of a power cut.

This project adds to the investments made in recent years to renew and improve Estepona’s water infrastructure. According to municipal data, more than €20 million has been allocated over the last decade to improving the sewerage, water supply and stormwater networks.
