The Town Council carries out free medical check-ups for 150 pupils of the Municipal Football and Basketball Sports Schools
The study, carried out on boys and girls aged between 6 and 15, aims to prevent future heart conditions.
Estepona Town Council reports that it has carried out medical check-ups on the children of the Municipal Sports Schools (EDM) of Football and Basketball who are taking part in the 2025/26 season of the Provincial Educational Leagues.
Before the competitions in question began, in the middle of this month, around 150 pupils (about 70 from the Football EDM and another 80 from the Basketball EDM) underwent a study in which medical professionals analysed a series of cardiac parameters.
Their spines were also examined, in addition to assessing other aspects, all with the aim of preventing possible future heart conditions. General data on family history was also collected.
The medical check-ups, carried out by the municipal medical services, were performed on boys and girls aged between 6 and 15, at the Polideportivo El Carmen, in small groups of 10 pupils, every half hour.
The Town Council has offered this service free of charge for more than a decade to participants in the Educational Leagues, which are organised by the Sports Area of the Diputación Provincial de Málaga, the corresponding territorial Andalusian federations and the town councils attached to these sports programmes.
